The comctl32.dll file is a common dynamic link library (dll) used in a large number of programs. The comctl32.dll file contains components known as Windows common controls for the use of caller applications. This file is usually distributed together with the applications that use it, and deployed through the application install program. The file may also be already present on some systems due to the fact that some of the most recent Windows operating systems actually include this file with their installation kit. However, the comctl32.dll file is a support library and it is not a portion of the Windows operating system itself.

If you are receiving error messages from the comctl32.dll file, it is likely that one of the applications installed on your comuter may be using the controls provided by the comctl32.dll file. If this is the case, you may first of all try to reinstall the application that throws the error message pertainging to the comctl32.dll file. If for some reasons this is not possible in yout case, then you can try solving this problem by obtaining a copy of the comctl32.dll file and placing it on your system.
