The kernel32.dll is part of the inner core of the Windows operating system. If there are any problems with the
kernel32.dll file, like being corrupted or missing, then your computer may show a black screen with error and
will not boot up at all. The operating system cannot obviously start because the kernel32.dll file is a critical
component and is absolutely needed.
Some people attempt to download the kernel32.dll from the Internet and try fixing their computer this way. This
is useless, chances of fixing your computer this way are very small,
because the kernel32.dll comes in a large number of versions and they are by far not the same. To fix your
kernel32.dll problem, the only real solution is to reinstall your Windows operating system from its original install
CD. Alternatively, you can try using the 'last known good configuration' option when booting up the system, it
has been reported that it may work in some cases.
Please note that kernel32.dll does not usually get corrupted or missing just like that. First of all it cannot be
deleted by mistake while the operating system is running, because the operating system prevents the user from
deleting the kernel32.dll file. If you are having this problem, chances are there was either a virus in your computer
that was causing havoc, or you are having some sort of hardware problem, particularly related to your
hard drive. A system checkup done by a computer technician would be recommended; try checking your hard disk for
errors and also run a surface error check, because such errors may cause the kernel32.dll to get faulty. Replace the
hard disk if found to have problems. Also there are a few cases when a software error in the operating system itself
or certain programs installed can cause such a problem, but it is less likely. In any case, it is recommended that
you should do a full check of your computer as to identify the issue that caused the kernel32.dll to get faulty
and prevent this from happening again in the future.
