The mscoree.dll file is a win32 system dll that comes with the .NET Framework. The .NET Framework is a development
infrastructure created by Microsoft, that contains a collection of functions usable by applications or services that
are designed to use the .NET Framework. The programs that make use of the .NET Framework can be either desktop
applications or Web services. To be mentioned that the .NET framework has 3 major parts, the Common Language Runtime
- CLR, the Framework Class Library, and ASP.NET. Please note that there is a different, lightweight port of the .NET
Framework that is used for mobile and embedded devices, in order to run .NET applications. The embedded version of
the .NET Framework is called .NET Compact Framework.
Getting back to the mscoree.dll file, this dll is a major part of the .NET Framework, containing the .NET Framework
functions. If mscoree.dll is missing or corrupted, users may get a range of dll - related errors, but anyway
the calling application will fail to work. The reason is that .NET applications have critical need for the
mscoree.dll file as this is a major component of the framework. If the framework is not installed at all, users may
often receive the same mscoree.dll errors.
The solution for this problem is to download the .NET Framework from Microsoft and install it. The current version
of Framework in wide use is 1.1 that can be downloaded
here.
Please note that version 2.0 is about to be released in the future. Also please note that your application may
not be compatible with the 1.1 version of the .NET Framework and therefore the wrong mscoree.dll may be installed.
There is also a Service Pack 1, available for the .NET Framework that can install an updated version of the mscoree.dll.
You can get it
